Experience the Massive Nushagak River King Run!
Prime Time Week - June 27 through July 4, 2010 at the Royal Coachman Lodge
The Nushagak has one of the biggest King (Chinook) Salmon runs in the world, averaging 80,000 + kings arriving each year between mid-June and mid-July. Whether you are a fly fisherman or gear fisherman you will have fast action for these salmon that weigh from 10 to 50 pounds. The King Salmon is probably the biggest and hardest fighting freshwater fish you will ever fish. The Royal Coachman Lodge also has an exclusive permit to fish a small coastal river in the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge where you’ll fly fish for King Salmon without the crowds. It’s hard to imagine sight fishing to a 30lb Chinook, but it is not uncommon on this fishery! Additionally at this time of year, the hard fighting chum
and sockeye salmon are in the rivers not to mention the time you can spend fishing a large variety of freshwater species including rainbow trout, arctic char, dolly varden, grayling, and huge northern pike.
